A. Selling and Item
1. List for Free
Creating a listing on Maresee is simple and free. To start selling, users must first create an account on our website. Once registered, users can use the platform both as sellers and buyers.
Sellers can list an unlimited number of items from their account.
To publish a listing, sellers must provide clear and accurate information about the item they wish to sell. This includes uploading photos, writing a detailed description, and setting the selling price.
Photos
Sellers are required to upload clear and genuine photos of the item they are listing. Photos should accurately represent the current condition of the product.
For best results, sellers should upload at least 4–5 photos showing the item from different angles, including:
- Front and back views
- Close-up details
- Labels or brand tags
- Any signs of wear or imperfections
- Proof of purchase where applicable
Providing clear and detailed photos helps buyers better understand the condition of the item and increases the chances of a successful sale.
Authenticity and Accuracy
All photos and descriptions must be accurate and genuine representations of the listed item.
It is important that listings clearly show the true condition of the product, including any defects, marks, or signs of use. Transparency helps build trust within the Maresee community.
If it is brought to our attention that photos or descriptions are misleading, inaccurate, or not genuine, Maresee reserves the right to remove the listing or suspend the user's account.
Item Condition
Sellers must accurately describe the condition of the item, such as:
- New with tags
- Like new
- Gently used
- Used with visible wear
Any defects, stains, or damage must be clearly disclosed in the listing description and photos.
Alterations and Tailoring
If an item has been altered or tailored, this must be clearly stated in the listing description.
Examples of alterations may include adjustments such as shortening the length, modifying the fit, adjusting sleeves, or any other changes made by a tailor to better suit the previous owner's body shape.
Providing this information helps buyers better understand how the item may fit and ensures transparency within the Maresee community.
If possible, sellers should also include photos showing the altered areas of the item.
Authenticity of Items
All branded items listed on Maresee must be authentic and legally owned by the seller.
Counterfeit, replica, or imitation items are strictly prohibited on the platform.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that any branded item they list is genuine. If possible, sellers are encouraged to include proof of purchase, labels, or authenticity tags in their photos.
Maresee does not authenticate items and relies on the honesty of its users. However, if a listing is suspected to contain counterfeit goods, Maresee reserves the right to remove the listing and review the user's account.
Pricing
Sellers are responsible for setting the price of their items. Prices should reflect the condition, brand, and quality of the product.
Maresee reserves the right to remove listings that contain unreasonable, misleading, or inappropriate pricing.
Allowed Items
Maresee is a marketplace dedicated to preloved fashion and lifestyle products.
Users are allowed to list and sell the following categories of items:
- Women's clothing
- Men's clothing
- Children's clothing
- Footwear
- Fashion accessories (such as bags, belts, scarves, hats, and jewellery)
All items must be legally owned by the seller and accurately represented in the listing.
Maresee reserves the right to remove listings that fall outside the intended scope of the platform.
Items must also comply with Maresee's listing guidelines, including providing accurate descriptions and clear photos that reflect the true condition of the product.
Prohibited Items
Certain items are not allowed to be listed on Maresee. These include counterfeit goods, illegal products, unsafe items, or any items that violate our platform policies.
Listings that violate these rules may be removed without notice.
Counterfeit Items
Maresee does not allow the sale of counterfeit or replica items. Sellers must ensure that all branded items listed on the platform are authentic.
If counterfeit items are identified, the listing will be removed and the seller's account may be suspended.
Communication and Personal Information
For your safety, all communication between buyers and sellers should remain within the Maresee platform.
Users should never share personal information, including phone numbers, email addresses, or payment details, through messages.
Maresee is responsible for protecting user data within the platform. However, we cannot guarantee the safety of personal information if it is shared outside of the platform.
Users who attempt to move conversations or transactions outside of Maresee may have their accounts restricted or suspended.
Payments must always be completed through Maresee. Transactions conducted outside the platform are not protected by Maresee policies.
Users must communicate respectfully with other members of the community. Harassment, abusive language, or inappropriate behaviour may result in account suspension.
2. Sell It, Ship It
Once your item is sold, you will receive an email from Maresee with instructions on how to post it. You must pack it securely and drop the parcel at your closest ACS point within 3 business days.
Shipping Provider
When a buyer purchases an item, they will select their preferred ACS location and pay for the shipping cost at checkout.
Shipping Time
Sellers must ship the item within 3 business days from the time the order is confirmed.
If the item is not shipped within this timeframe, the order will be cancelled and the buyer will receive a refund.
If the seller cannot ship within the initial timeframe, they may request an extension of up to 3 additional business days. The buyer has the right to accept or decline this request.
Packaging Requirements
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that items are packaged safely and securely to prevent damage during transit.
When preparing a parcel:
- Use sturdy outer packaging that properly fits the item
- Fill any empty space with protective materials such as bubble wrap, paper, foam, or similar padding
- Ensure the item cannot move freely inside the parcel
- Seal the parcel securely using strong tape
Proper packaging helps protect the item and ensures a smooth delivery experience.
Proof of Packaging
We recommend that sellers take photos of the item and the packed parcel (both inside and outside) before shipping.
If the buyer reports damage or issues during transit, these photos may help resolve the situation more quickly.
If the item is damaged due to inadequate packaging, the seller may not be eligible for a refund or compensation.
Be Responsive
Answering buyer questions quickly and clearly can increase the chances of making a sale.
Ship Promptly
Once your item is sold, make sure to package it securely and ship it within the required timeframe. Prompt shipping creates a positive experience for buyers.
Lost or Delayed Parcels
If a parcel is lost or significantly delayed during transit, Maresee will work with the shipping provider to investigate the issue. Resolution will depend on the shipping provider's policies and tracking information.
Failed Delivery
If there is failure to collect the parcel from the pickup point, the parcel may be returned to the seller.
Failure to Ship
If a seller repeatedly fails to ship sold items, Maresee reserves the right to suspend or permanently restrict the seller's account.
Shipping Confirmation
Sellers must confirm shipment through the platform once the item has been dropped off.
This helps with tracking and payment release.
3. Payment
Once an order is successfully completed, the seller will receive the full amount of the price of their product.
An order is considered completed when:
- The buyer confirms that they have received the parcel and that the item matches the description, or
- The parcel has been delivered and the buyer has not reported any issue within 48 hours of delivery.
Reporting an Issue
Buyers have 48 hours from the delivery date to report any issue with their order.
If a problem is identified, or if the buyer receives an item that is significantly different from the listing description or photos, the buyer may submit a refund request to the seller through the platform.
Once a request is submitted, the buyer and seller will be able to communicate through Maresee to find a mutually agreed solution. Possible solutions may include:
- A partial refund
- A full refund and return of the item
Returns
If a return is agreed upon, the buyer is usually responsible for covering the cost of return shipping. However, the buyer and seller may agree on a different arrangement if both parties consent.
Refunds will be processed once the returned item is received by the seller and the condition of the item is verified.
Fraudulent Claims
Maresee reserves the right to investigate refund requests and disputes. If a claim is determined to be fraudulent or abusive, Maresee may reject the request and take action against the user's account.
B. Buying and Item
1. Find It
There are many ways to discover and shop for items on Maresee.
Browse the Home Page
You can start by visiting the home page, where the latest listings and newly uploaded items are displayed. This is a great way to explore new pieces and discover unique items added by members of the community.
Use the Search Tool
If you are looking for something specific, you can use the search bar to enter keywords related to the item you want to find, such as brands, item types, sizes, or styles.
Browse by Category
Users can browse items by category, including:
- Women's clothing
- Men's clothing
- Children's clothing
Browsing by category makes it easier to navigate the platform and discover items you may be interested in.
Use Filters
To refine your search results, you can apply filters such as:
- Size
- Brand
- Price range
- Item condition
Filters help you quickly narrow down the listings and find items that suit your preferences.
2. Buy It
Once you have found an item you like, asked the seller any questions, and are ready to purchase it, you have a few options.
Checkout
If you are satisfied with the price and item details, you can simply select “Buy Now” and proceed directly to checkout to complete your purchase.
Please note that offers can only be made on the item price itself. Shipping costs and any platform fees are not negotiable through offers.
3. Get It
Delivery Process
Shipping costs are paid by the buyer and will be added to the total price of the item during checkout.
Once the seller ships the item, you will receive a notification.
Sellers must ship the item within 3 business days of the purchase. If the seller requires additional time, they may request an extension of up to 3 additional business days. A notification will be sent to the buyer, who can choose to accept or decline the request.
- If the buyer declines the request, the order will be cancelled and the buyer will receive a refund.
- If the buyer accepts the request, the shipping timeframe will be extended and the order will proceed as normal.
If the seller fails to ship the item within the allowed timeframe, the order may be cancelled automatically and the buyer will receive a refund.
C. Refund Policy
A buyer protection fee will be included in the total cost of the purchase. This fee helps protect buyers in case there is an issue with the order.
Once the item has been delivered, the buyer has 48 hours to confirm that everything is satisfactory.
If no issue is reported within this timeframe, the order will be considered successfully completed and the payment will be released to the seller.
If the item received is significantly different from the description or photos, the buyer may contact the seller through the platform to resolve the issue.
Possible solutions may include:
- Negotiating a partial refund
- Requesting a full refund and returning the item to the seller
Unless otherwise agreed, the buyer is responsible for covering the return shipping cost.
Returned items must be sent back in the same condition in which they were received. Items that show signs of additional wear or damage may not be eligible for a refund.
If the returned item is found to be damaged, altered, or significantly different from its original condition when received, Maresee reserves the right to deny the refund or apply appropriate charges.
To help avoid disputes, both buyers and sellers are strongly encouraged to take clear photos of the item and its packaging before shipping, upon receiving the item, and again if the item is returned.
Maresee reserves the right to make a final decision based on the information and evidence provided by both parties.
If the buyer and seller are unable to reach an agreement, Maresee may review the case. Buyers may be asked to provide clear photos and detailed information to support their claim.
Important Notes About Returns
The Refund Policy does not cover items that do not fit or do not suit the buyer. Buyers are encouraged to carefully review item descriptions, measurements, and photos before purchasing.
However, buyers and sellers may still discuss a return privately if both parties agree.
Buyers may also be eligible for a refund if:
- The parcel never arrives
- The item is damaged during delivery
Report an Issue
If the item has not been delivered or arrives damaged, the buyer must report the issue within 48 hours of delivery.
If no issue is reported within the allowed timeframe (or if the buyer selects “Everything is OK”), the order will be completed and the payment will be released to the seller.
Once an issue is reported:
- The order will be temporarily suspended
- The payment will be securely held by the payment service provider until a solution is reached
D. Suspected Counterfeit Items
If a buyer believes that an item received may be counterfeit or not authentic, they must report the issue within the allowed reporting period.
The buyer may be asked to provide clear photos and supporting information to help review the claim.
If Maresee reasonably determines that the item is likely counterfeit or has been misrepresented, the buyer may be eligible for a full refund, provided that the item is returned to the seller in the same condition in which it was received.
